Luxury Custom Wine Cellars in Miami That Exude both Modern and Traditional Styles

Contemporary wine cellars feature both modern and traditional styles. With a Tuscan-style home dominated by hardwood, stone, iron accents, and a rustic vibe, we found it best to design this luxurious Miami custom wine room around natural elements. This wine cellar is found in a home located within the Snapper Creek neighborhood of Miamii. Our Master Designer, Steve,  introduced some modern metal racks to go with the traditional Alderwood racks and a modern backlighting system that contributed to the wine cellar’s current look.  

Once a theater, a storage room, and now a stunning wine cellar. We’ve successfully converted this old room into a fully-functional wine storage area, insulated by a high R-value spray foam material and efficiently cooled at 55°F. This is a cellar you’d want to place on a vision board!   

Wooden and Metal Wine Racks Where Every Nook Was Built Unique   

A first look at this wine cellar can give you an overwhelming sense of interest because a lot is going on. This cellar could hold about 1,400 bottles, which can be stored and displayed in so many ways! 

Alderwood for Traditional, Luxury Custom Wine Cellars in Miami 

Once you enter the room, you’re greeted with a large wine tasting table with slots for magnum and standard 750ml bottles. On one side of the room, you can see a quarter-round shelf on the corner, followed by custom-made reveal racks and seven layers of triple-deep horizontal display racks that make it convenient for the owner to read the labels right away. We then duplicated this wooden wine racking combination on the opposite side of the room.  

We also set up an arched wine display area at the far end of this contemporary, posh, custom wine cellar. This was an interesting touch because it balanced out the straight lines in most wooden wine racks. We assembled this portion, together with the vertical corner shelves so that the owners could have special areas for their most precious wines, gins, brandy, tequilas, and other liquors, as well as their wine decanting tools and equipment. In this wine cellar, there’s a place for everything and more, and it is nice to visit after a long day of work or errands in bustling Miami.

Different Storage Shapes That Cater to More Than a Thousand Bottles!   

High-capacity, luxury custom wine cellars in Miami can be styled beautifully using different storage configurations. In this project, we opted for six different wooden rack styles: high reveals, horizontal display racks, 750 cork-forwards, X-bins, and standing-bottle shelves.   

Each bottle space was expertly designed to keep the bottles firmly in place. The horizontal display racks, for example, are carved with grooves/channels that prevent the bottles from rolling out. We ensure that our security features are as inconspicuous as possible, so the aesthetics remain clean-looking and well-fused.   

Wall-Mounted Metal Wine Racks For that Modern Touch

Above the reveal racks, we had black satin metal racks from VintageView, which we screwed onto backer boards. We custom-built these metal wine racks so every rod could hold two bottles without going beyond the high reveal racks.

A Custom Lighting System Design That Gives Stunning Visibility in Every Corner   

Wine is best preserved in low-heat environments. This means utilizing modern wine cellar lights, particularly LED lights, and placing them in strategic areas that lit up the collection fascinatingly while allowing the wine owners to see the bottles simultaneously.   

For this project, you can see that we only used minimal ceiling lights and put more focus on lighting up the racks.  

We installed LED lights behind the backer boards, illuminating the metal racks. Backlighting helps create a three-dimensional appearance, allowing the boards and bottles to visually pop out more and making them look more dynamic, like captivating displays in an art gallery!  

We ran channel lights on the reveal racks and horizontal display racks as well and had one puk light installed on every vertical shelf, so no bottles were left unseen. We carefully think about every detail we put into a wine cellar so you won’t have to worry about wasting your resources on things that are rarely used. 

An Easy-to-Maintain, Industrial-Grade Wine Cooling System that Keeps the Wines Protected No Matter the Season 

In this city, average temperatures can fluctuate between 60°F and 91°F. That’s on the maximum end (if not beyond) of the optimal temperature range necessary for wine preservation. To keep this luxury custom wine cellar in Miami constantly cool throughout the year, we chose the ducted, split-type wine cooling system from US Cellar Systems.  

This industrial-grade air conditioning system is low-sounding and space-saving, perfect since there wasn’t enough exterior space beside the cellar (required by self-contained cooling units). Inside the wine cellar, you could only see grilles where the ducts are attached — no coils, protruding units, or evaporators that look cluttered and out of place.    

What’s excellent about US Cellar System’s ducted cooling system is that they come in various sizes, so you can easily use them in both big and small wine cellars. For this project, we positioned the compressor outside the house, ran the coils in the attic, then installed the air handler inside the laundry area so we could service it quickly when needed. 

Say Goodbye to Air Gaps with This Innovative Glass Wine Cellar Door 

We want all our Miami luxury, custom, home wine cellars to have a stable temperature and humidity. This means there has to be minimal to no air exchange between the outside environment and the cellar, apart from the air passing through the cooling system.   

When we install our doors, we ensure the spaces between the door’s edge and the wall are air-tight with closing hinges and U-channels. For this project, you’ll see a frameless glass enclosure with a single door that’s ½ “thick, tempered, and single-paned. Apart from having a great seal, our glass enclosure provides a full, unobstructed view of the wine cellar from the outside. Visitors get a splendid view of the interior and the entire wine collection without constantly opening the door.
